  • US Liquid Gallon
  • US Liquid Quart
  • US Liquid Pint
  • US Legal Cup
  • US Tablespoon
  • US Teaspoon
  • Liter
  • Imperial Gallon
  • Imperial Quart:
  • Imperial Pint
  • Imperial Cup
  • Imperial Fluid Ounce
  • Imperial Tablespoon
  • Imperial Teaspoon

However, one of the best things of this calculator is that you can use it to convert oz to ml but also to convert ml to oz. In case this is what you want, you just need to add the value in ml to the respective blank space and you will immediately discover the number of ounces.

How To Convert 8 Oz In Ml – A Simple Example

8-oz-in-ml

As we already mentioned, the easiest and fastest way to convert 8 oz in ml is to use our free calculator at the top. In order to do it, you just need to add the number “8” to the oz blank space and you will immediately get the result in ml.

According to our free calculator: 8 oz = 236.58824 ml

But how can you determine by hand?

Before we show you how you can determine how many ml in 8 oz there are, you need to keep in mind that there are two different measurement systems: the US customary system and the Imperial or British system of measurement. The important thing to retain at this point is that the number of ml in 8 oz are different depending on the system that you use. But we will talk about it in more detail below.

So, to determine how many ml in 8 oz there are, we are going to show you the calculations for each one of the different systems:

#1: Using The US Customary System:

1 oz = 29.57353 ml

Since you want to know how many ml in 8 oz:

8 oz = 236.58824 ml

#2: Using The British or Imperial System:

1 oz = 28.41 ml

Since you want to know how many ml in 8 oz:

8 oz = 227.28 ml

How To Convert 500 Ml In Oz – A Simple Example

8-fluid-oz-to-ml

Just like we said above, with our calculator, you can not only easily convert 8 oz in ml but you can also use it to determine how many oz in 500 ml there are.

Again, you need to pay attention to the measurement system that you are using since as we already saw above, the results differ depending on the one that you are choosing.

So, let’s do the quick math for each one:

#1: Using The US Customary System:

1 ml = 0.03381 oz

Since you want to know how many oz in 500 ml:

500 ml = 500 X 0.03381 oz

500 ml = 16.90701

#2: Using The British or Imperial System:

1 ml = 0.035195 oz

Since you want to know how many ml in 8 oz:

500 ml = 500 X 0.035195 oz

500 ml = 17.5975 oz

If you want to confirm the calculations, just add the numbers to our calculator at the top.

The Imperial And The US Customary Systems

When you are looking at measurements and more specifically, when you are trying to convert one measurement into a different one, it is important that you understand that there are two different measurement systems: the Imperial (or British) measurement system and the US Customary System.

The first thing that you need to know is that both systems are very similar and they have the same origin – the English system. So, even though the names may be the same for some measurements, the actual quantities differ in many of them.

While there are many differences between the two systems, most of them are concentrated on the units of volume. For example, a fluid gallon in the United States includes 0.83 Imperial gallons while a dry gallon contains 0.97 Imperial gallons. On the other hand, in England, all gallons are measured as just one Imperial gallon.

While it doesn’t seem to be a lot of confusion here, things can get a bit more complicated when you go into the metric system. With the adoption of the metric system, meters and centimeters as well as kilograms and grams started to be a part of our lives. When you look at England, for example, it is quite common for heights to be measured in feet and inches weights in kilograms, and distances in miles. In what concerns to pressure, for example, this is usually measured in terms of pounds per square inch in both countries. However, the pascal is a special unit that belongs to the metric system.

In terms of the units of volume, you will see a lot of differences as well. After all, this is exactly what we showed you by converting ounces to millimeters and millimeters to ounces above.

While the US fluid ounce is slightly larger (29.6 milliliters) than the Imperial fluid ounce (28.4 milliliters), the Imperial pint is about 20% larger. After all, there are 16 US fl oz to a US pint and 20 imp fl oz per Imperial pint. Besides, we can say the same about gallons, quarts, and other units of volume. Just take the gallons, for example. Six US gallons are less than five Imperial gallons.

Why Are So Many Differences?

how-many-ml-in-8-oz

The differences of both systems started being drawn after the US Declaration of Independence. When it was signed off, the United States started creating their own system of units of measurements and, with time, the US and the UK ended up with different yards, gallons, and pounds.
